Carnival-Themed Birthday Party

This was my son's second birthday. His birthday is in the summer so it's always a scorcher. We're lucky in that my mother in law used to have a pool and a huge yard so we often held parties at her place. This year, I kiiiiiind of went all out!

I got everything carnival themed right down to the napkins. Birthdayinabox.com is amazing for these types of decorations!

Even the loot bags were adorable!

I also bought those tiny water guns at the dollar store and gave each kid one. They had a blast just running around the backyard shooting each other. This particular birthday was hot (more so than usual) so the water guns were greatly appreciated!

Vintage popcorn anyone??

I had a very distinct idea of what I wanted for the cake, but what I wanted was too expensive. So I hired someone to make this and I searched long and hard for the Little People circus animals. I ended finding them for $.50 each - saved me $25!

And I may have snuck in a few cupcakes, too :)

I think out of all the birthday parties I've decorated for my son, this one was my favourite.
