TIP #1: How to manage your work load

Take notes!


I'm a list person. I have notebooks for different lists: my clients list which has all their requests for ongoing work, I have a to do list book - things I want to accomplish in one day, I have a list of things I need to do in the future, I have a planner, and I even have a small notebook I keep in front of me at all times for when I need to jot something down like a color code or a question I need to ask a client.


The point of these lists is to keep you focused and on top of your game. When you run a business with multiple clients - all of them needing something different, its easy to forget things and even something you may find minute may be really important to them. So KEEP TRACK OF EVERYTHING. The more on top of things you are, the more efficient you are, the more reliable they find you. Client retention is everything.


Extra tip: Although its nice to have things in spreadsheets and notes in your phone and so on, nothing replaces good old fashioned note books. Don't rely on technology to keep you organized - sometimes it can just make things more confusing.
