I didn't realize until my son was born (and I discovered Pinterest) that I love decorating for birthday parties. It seems that every year, with every birthday party, my decorating gets more and more extravagant, and that's OK! At least I can share it with my community and maybe give moms like me out there some ideas!
The invitations....these were super fun to make
I spent a lot of time making the decorations for this party - this was actually my third mess hall banner - all the other ones I just didn't really like - but this one I liked a lot - and I ended up having to leave it at the party venue because I couldn't get it down :(
This went on top of the water cooler - cause water is life ;)
The venue we used (Commando Paintball) was set up pretty awesomely for this party. All the parents had to pass by this giant, randomly placed cement block when they brought their kids in, so everyone saw this as they entered. I'm kind of in love with it.
Snack table before snacks. I got really luck with this party - I advertised on one of the buy nothing groups on Facebook, and one women contacting me telling me her son was a cadet and he collected old army paraphernalia, so I borrowed all of this from her. It was pretty amazing.
Snack table with snacks!
Due to the nature of the party we were having (bazooka ball), all the parents/kids had to sign a waiver, so I took that opportunity to make it seem as if they were actually enlisting for the army, and they were given "care packages" which were "CJM Army Forces T-shirts" I'd made.
Loot bags. I'm not a fan of spending $8 per kid on random CRAP, so I try to get them something with a little more value for my money (also, I know how annoying it is to get a bag of random candy and toys small enough to lodge into your foot when you accidentally step on one), so I shopped around online and found cammo fidget spinners. Now those were a hit!
I've never made a cake like this before, but I really didn't want to spend the $120 most cake decorators wanted for a cake like this but I had my heart set on a cute army cake so I took the plunge and made this. It took me a lot longer than I care to admit, but it turned out OK, and it was delicious!
The party was so much fun - my son loved it, and the kids all got a kick out of the snack names, T-shirts and decorations so that made my son even happier - which made me extremely happy.
Happy 6th Birthday Baby Boy!
